chelsea lately, vintage rock tees and the blurring of age lines
fashion is multi-generational
and how chelsea lately saved my marriage
DON’T MIND ME. STILL WRITING & EDITING
I think watching chelsea lately saved my marriage… did it matter that she aired in 2017 and I watched it almost two years later ? was it a late discovery ? or a timely one? who even knows or cares. all I know is— I needed her. Yes —laughs but also the possible connect between all the fucks, the political nerdiness, boozing and loving the world can be in one place, one show from one person. That I can be both the conservative church girl and badass designer. That Tom could be whoever he wants without me having to control the optics… but mostly — that tom and I will be okay. that we can be in the same world & actually watch something we enjoy together.
which brings me back to vintage rock tees. cause for me all things lead to clothes & fashion. Why not? While I was in a slight overdose from church activities most of the 80’s, 90’s 2000’s —
And yes. fashion. back to the vintage tees to the kid down the street paying 800 for an excellent blondies t-shirt, connects me to my husband’s world and his memories. living his life via a t-shirt. I suppose I get it . the price we pay to connect with another cooler time. that connection is more precious than we can imagine.
so whether its about nostalgia, or being cool or connecting with my husband , or if you are 15, 30, 40 or 60 — we are all wearing vintage rock tees. We are all connected. the age lines were manufactured so we can be put neatly in boxes. lets discover our multiple selves. perhaps the world would be less divided. and tom and I types could have it easier…
WHAT ARE THE LINES OF YEARS? FUTURE CONNECTION WITH THE PAST, PAST WITH THE PRESENT. HAVING COMMUNICATED. TOUCHED AND UNDERSTOOD THE END GOAL?
the fashion trend for the hot moment maybe vintage rocks tees but the deeper truth is the future is ageless. the future is timess.
the future of fashion is multigenerational
the future is ageless fuck all the age lines we blindly follow.
replaces all the absent loyal “church years” where I was absolutely d disconnected with the world and culture and the happenings around me.
there is something about nolstaligia, or not being there. or being there with the eighties t shirts…
